Bachround and Aims: Iran's elderly population is projected to reach 22% by (2031). At present, 12% of the elderly suffer from severe malnutrition. Severe deficiencies in energy intake, fiber, calcium, vitamin D, zinc, and vitamin B12 – particularly among those over 80 years of age – indicate a critical nutritional situation. To date, no sustainable food-based dietary guideline specifically designed for the elderly has been developed in Iran. This study aimed to develop a healthy andsustainable diatary guideline for older adults of Iran. Material Methods: This study used linear and goal programming to model a daily intake range (lower bound: 75% of requirements; upper bound: 90%). Results: Three policy recommendations include approval of the "elderly plate”, public education, targeted counseling. Conclusion: Implementation of these recommendations is a strategic necessity for the health of Iran's aging population.
